Overview
Hawaiian Tropic packages this 8 ounce coconut-scented oil for tanning rather than sun protection, with moisturizing, soothing and antioxidant benefits listed for sensitive skin.
This sits in the tanning-oil category rather than sunscreen, so its job is to condition skin during sun exposure instead of blocking UV rays. The manufacturer part number traces back to Playtex Products, which has owned the Hawaiian Tropic brand, and the listed skin type is sensitive despite the product being an oil.
- 8 fluid ounce bottle
- Oil-based tanning formula
- Coconut fragrance
- Antioxidant and soothing benefits
Who it's for
Fits people who tan intentionally and want a scented oil to condition skin during exposure. Not a fit for anyone needing sun protection, since no SPF or UV-blocking claim appears anywhere in the spec.
Pros and cons
- Moisturizing, soothing formula
- No SPF or UV protection listed
- Oil format not suited to all skin types
Performance notes
The oil format is meant to be applied during sun exposure, with moisturizing and antioxidant ingredients aimed at limiting the dryness tanning can cause. There is no SPF figure in the spec, so it should not be treated as sun protection.
