Overview
A built-in Wi-Fi radio connects the Sony player to the home network and internet apps, while the disc drive plays stereoscopic Blu-ray in full HD. DLNA streaming pulls photos, video and music from other devices.
Built-in wireless is the main advantage over similar players that need an adapter. Audio format support is not clearly listed, and app availability may have changed.
Who it's for
Homes where the TV is far from the router get wireless streaming and disc playback in one box. Audiophiles who need specific decoding should verify formats first.
Pros and cons
- Wi-Fi built in
- Stereoscopic disc playback
- Network media streaming
- Phone remote app
- Audio formats unclear in listing
- Older app platform
Performance notes
Streaming stability depends on Wi-Fi signal strength where the player is placed, while disc playback is unaffected. Stereoscopic output needs a compatible TV.
