Overview
A 200-yard spool of 12-pound test fluorocarbon line, the Sunline 63038916 comes in a natural clear finish. Fluorocarbon's lower visibility underwater compared to monofilament is the main reason anglers reach for it as leader or main line.
At 12-pound test with 200 yards on the spool, this sits in a mid-strength range suited to general freshwater or light saltwater use rather than heavy offshore tackle. Fluorocarbon also sinks and has less stretch than monofilament, which changes how it feels on the retrieve and hookset.

Who it's for
Suits anglers who want a clear, low-visibility line for finesse or clear-water fishing at a moderate line strength. Not the choice for heavy cover or big-game fishing needing much higher pound test.
Pros and cons
- Low visibility underwater
- Less stretch than monofilament for better feel
- 200 yards, enough for multiple respools
- 12-pound test may be light for heavy cover or big fish
- Fluorocarbon is stiffer, which can affect castability
Performance notes
Fluorocarbon has a refractive index close to water, which is why it reads as less visible underwater than standard monofilament. It also has less stretch and sinks faster, giving more direct feel on strikes and a different presentation than mono at the same pound test.
