Overview
Shop owners, drivers and homeowners get a multipurpose dry chemical extinguisher from Amerex that covers ordinary combustibles, flammable liquids and live electrical fires. The powder melts onto burning surfaces to insulate them and breaks the chain reaction of liquid fires.
Its multipurpose rating handles the three common fire types with one unit, and the included bracket makes vehicle mounting straightforward. The listing is silent on a pressure gauge, hose and recharge service, so check those details before ordering.
Who it's for
Owners of a truck, shop or garage who want one extinguisher for mixed fire risks are well served, with a bracket ready for vehicle mounting. Buyers who need a rating outside the A, B and C classes should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Covers Class A, B and C fires
- Vehicle bracket in the box
- Anodized aluminum valve
- Agent does not conduct electricity back
- Pressure gauge not listed
- Brief discharge leaves little room for error
- Only a vehicle bracket is mentioned
Performance notes
Effectiveness rests on the dry chemical, which melts at high heat to coat and insulate burning solids and smothers flammable liquid fires. The short discharge window means the operator has little time to adjust aim once discharge starts.
