Overview
A 20-ounce French press with a borosilicate glass carafe wrapped in a stainless steel frame, using a 4-part filter (mesh filter, spring disk, cross plate, and final screen) to strain grounds. Comes with a 7-gram measuring spoon and a 1-year warranty.
One recurring complaint is that the lid's interior is plastic, which undercuts the all-metal-and-glass look the exterior promises.
- 20-ounce borosilicate glass carafe
- Stainless steel outer frame and handle
- 4-level filtration: mesh, spring disk, cross plate, screen
- 1-year warranty from Ovente
Who it's for
Suits anyone wanting an inexpensive, sturdy press for coffee, tea, or steeped drinks like mate, especially as a backup to a pricier press. Not the pick for someone who wants every part touching liquid to be glass or metal, since the lid interior is plastic.
Pros and cons
- Filters cleanly, little sediment reported
- Sturdy build for the price
- Dishwasher-safe plunger and filter parts
- Works for tea and mate, not just coffee
- Lid interior is plastic, not glass or metal
- Plunger does not reach the very bottom
Performance notes
The plunger does not reach the very bottom of the glass, which one buyer flagged as a flaw and another called a non-issue since it only leaves about half an inch unpressed.
