Overview
KastKing's KK-MO-White-300-8 is a nylon monofilament mainline sold on a 300 yard spool at 8 pound test, finished in an ice clear tint. It suits anglers restocking a spinning reel for panfish, trout or light bass work rather than heavy cover fishing.
Monofilament like this trades the thin diameter of braid for stretch, which absorbs a sudden strike instead of transferring the full shock to the hook. That forgiveness is the main reason anglers still spool mono onto light spinning reels even with braid widely available.
- 300 yard spool
- 8 pound test
- Nylon monofilament
- Ice clear color
Who it's for
Anglers running light spinning tackle for panfish, trout or light bass who want a clear, forgiving line rather than a low stretch braid. Not aimed at anyone targeting line classes above 8 pounds.
Pros and cons
- 300 yards is enough to fully respool most light reels
- Ice clear finish keeps visibility low in clear water
- Mono stretch forgives light hooksets
- 8 pound test rules out larger or hard fighting species
- Mono holds more coil memory than braided line
Performance notes
As a nylon monofilament, this line stretches under load, which cushions hooksets and reduces the chance of pulling a hook free on light tackle. The 8 pound rating and ice clear finish point it at clear water finesse presentations rather than heavy structure fishing.
