Overview
Not a phone dongle that leans on an app, the Autel MaxiCOM is a standalone diagnostic tablet with its own screen. It connects to the vehicle's diagnostic port and runs on battery power, so the reading happens on the tool in your hand.
A large built-in screen and battery power make the Autel a self-contained tool for the garage floor or the driveway. The spec sheet lists none of the brand coverage or service functions, so any capability beyond reading faults has to be confirmed against Autel's own vehicle list.
Who it's for
Driveway mechanics who want diagnostics on a dedicated screen get a tablet that runs on its own battery. Owners who need written proof of support for a particular model or function should check Autel's coverage list first, since the specs here do not show it.
Pros and cons
- Large built-in screen
- Runs on battery power
- Standalone, no phone needed
- Manufacturer warranty for quality problems
- Vehicle and function coverage not listed
- Included cables and adapters unclear
- Spec sheet weight looks like a data error
Performance notes
Results depend on how well the software covers the specific vehicle, since the tool can only read what the vehicle modules expose. The screen and battery decide comfort in use, while coverage decides whether a given fault can be read at all.
