Overview
The Wildhorn Sawtooth is an aluminum-frame snowshoe with a ratchet binding system, built for men, women, and youth sizes and designed to handle hard-packed trails as well as deep powder.
This is a revised version of Wildhorn's original Sawtooth, with a reinforced spring-loaded ratchet binding and an auto-locking heel strap added after feedback on the 2018 model.
- Reinforced spring-loaded ratchet binding with auto-locking heel strap
- Durable aluminum frame for flotation in deep powder
- Two sets of heavy-duty crampons for icy or hard-packed snow
- Flip-up heel lift riser for climbing steep inclines
Who it's for
Recreational snowshoers, from first-timers to people hauling gear or shoveling snow off a roof, who want a durable pair without paying mountaineering-brand prices. Less suited to someone who wants the lightest possible shoe for long-distance trekking.
Pros and cons
- Aluminum frame holds up under heavy packs and years of use
- Crampons grip well on hard-packed and icy snow
- Front ratchet straps are quick to tighten even in cold weather
- Rear heel strap is stiff and can be tricky to buckle in cold conditions
- Heel lift riser is fiddly to flip up and down on climbs
- Shoes run heavy compared with lighter aluminum competitors
