Overview
This is a Japan-market electric shaved ice machine (model KTY-18BK) that produces the powdery fuwafuwa-style ice used for kakigori and bingsu, sold and shipped directly from Japan. It runs on Japanese AC100V power rather than standard US household voltage.
The catch for US buyers is the proprietary ice mold system: only one full-size mold and four half-size molds ship in the box, and extra molds are only sold through Amazon Japan.
- AC100V power, 25W rated consumption
- Approx. 145 x 200 x 355 mm size
- 1.2 kg body weight
- Includes 1 full mold, 4 half molds, manual
Who it's for
Suited to fans of Japanese-style fluffy shaved ice (kakigori, bingsu, halo-halo) who don't mind sourcing accessories from Japan and confirming voltage compatibility. Not a good fit for anyone wanting to serve large groups without buying extra ice molds.
Pros and cons
- Produces genuinely fine, powdery shaved ice
- Blade fineness adjusts without tools
- Usable without reading Japanese thanks to picture manual
- Only 1 full mold and 4 half molds included
- Extra molds only sold via Amazon Japan
- Runs on Japanese AC100V power, not US standard
- One reviewer called the motor underpowered
