Overview
A built-in cable modem feeds the Wi-Fi router in this ARRIS Surfboard, so one box connects to the coax line and shares internet around the home. McAfee security comes bundled.
Cable subscribers on Cox or Xfinity can replace a separate rented modem and router with one unit. The listing leaves out Wi-Fi standard, coverage and band details, which makes it hard to judge for larger homes.
Who it's for
Cable internet homes that want one box instead of two suit it. Fiber and DSL households cannot use the modem side at all.
Pros and cons
- Modem and router in one unit
- Listed for Cox and Xfinity
- Two wired Ethernet ports
- McAfee security included
- Wi-Fi coverage not listed
- Only two Ethernet ports
- Cable internet only
Performance notes
Download speed is capped by the cable plan and the modem side, and upload by the much lower upstream figure. Wi-Fi reach depends on placement, since the listing gives no antenna or band data.
