Overview
Gosky's Go20x60-80new spotting scope pairs an 80mm objective lens with a variable zoom eyepiece and manual focus, aimed at long range terrestrial viewing such as birdwatching, target shooting and hunting scouting.
The wide zoom range and 80mm objective favor light gathering at distance, though field of view narrows sharply at the top end of any zoom scope. Manual focus keeps the mechanism simple and less prone to electronic failure than motorized alternatives.
- 80mm objective lens
- Variable zoom eyepiece
- Manual focus mechanism
- 2.41 lb body weight
Who it's for
Shooters and birders who want more reach than a compact spotter and are willing to use a tripod, since long tube scopes at high zoom are not steady handheld.
Pros and cons
- Large 80mm objective for brighter images at range
- Wide zoom range covers close and far targets
- Manual focus avoids battery dependence
- Field of view narrows at high zoom, as with any long range spotter
- No stated waterproofing or nitrogen purging in the spec sheet
Performance notes
The 80mm objective pulls in more light than smaller spotters, which helps image brightness at dawn, dusk and at the far end of the zoom range where less light reaches the eye. Manual focus means dialing in sharpness by hand rather than relying on autofocus electronics.
