Overview
The Waterspecialist WS645A is a 3-pack refrigerator water filter built as a replacement for Samsung's DA97-17376B and HAF-QIN filters. It fits a specific list of Samsung French-door and Bespoke models and is not compatible with the round DA29-00020B (HAF-CIN) filter.
- Replaces Samsung DA97-17376B/HAF-QIN
- NSF 42 and 372 certified
- 6-month or 316-gallon filter life
- 3 filters included per pack
Who it's for
Suits Samsung refrigerator owners with a square HAF-QIN filter housing, listed models include RF28T5001SR, RS27T5200SR, and RF28R7351SG, who want a lower-cost replacement without giving up NSF certification. Not compatible with round HAF-CIN housings like DA29-00020B, so check your old filter's shape before buying.
Pros and cons
- NSF 42 and 372 certified filtration
- Twist-in install, no tools required
- 3-pack covers roughly 18 months of use
- Only fits square HAF-QIN housings, not round HAF-CIN
- Can be fiddly to seat correctly at first install
- 6-month replacement cycle adds ongoing cost
Performance notes
A coconut shell carbon block does the filtering, which Waterspecialist positions as offering more surface area and micropores than generic carbon for reducing chlorine, taste, and odor. NSF 42 and 372 certification cover taste/odor reduction and lead-free housing material respectively, tested by an independent lab rather than self-reported. Rated life is 6 months or 316 gallons, whichever comes first, with a date sticker included to track replacement timing.
