Overview
Rather than silver tubing, the Nuvo Student Flute uses waterproof plastic with completely standard flute fingering. A straight head joint and C foot joint come with it, along with standard and Firstnote lip plates so a recorder player can start before switching.
Standard fingering means the Nuvo Student Flute can serve in band class, auditions and performances, per Nuvo, while the waterproof plastic removes worry about moisture. The kit arrives complete with a hard case, strap, cloth and O-ring grease. What the listing does not cover is the quality of the key mechanism.
Who it's for
Students entering school band or preparing for an audition get a flute that follows standard fingering and tolerates moisture. Advanced players chasing the tone of a silver instrument will want metal.
Pros and cons
- Completely standard flute fingering
- Two lip plates for recorder to flute
- Silicone comfort pads on the body
- Hard molded case and strap included
- Plastic body, not a metal flute
- Key mechanism details not listed
- Included components spec lists only a cloth
Performance notes
Standard flute fingering means scales and fingerings transfer directly to a metal flute later. The Firstnote lip plate lets a beginner sound notes like a recorder before moving to the standard plate. Silicone comfort pads on the main body cushion the grip, and the waterproof plastic tolerates moisture from playing.
