Overview
The Athlon Optics Midas BTR GEN2 is a second focal plane riflescope with HD glass and a fully multicoated lens system, described in seller copy as a 4.5-27x50 model with the APRS4 SFP IR MIL reticle.
This is a hunting-oriented scope with second focal plane construction, meaning the reticle stays a constant size as magnification changes, useful for holdover shots at low power.
- 0.1 MIL click value with 22 MIL total elevation travel
- Parallax adjustment from 30 yards to infinity
- Heat-treated one-piece tube for fog resistance
- Second focal plane with illuminated MIL reticle
Who it's for
Suits hunters and casual target shooters who want a second focal plane scope with a visible reticle at low power for close shots and enough magnification for longer ones. Less relevant to shooters who specifically need first focal plane holdovers at every power setting.
Pros and cons
- Sharp, bright glass at a mid-range price
- Precise, distinct 0.1 MIL click adjustments
- Etched reticle for durability under recoil
- Second focal plane keeps reticle visible at low power for close shots
Performance notes
The 0.1 MIL click value and 22 MIL total elevation adjustment give fine, trackable control, and the etched reticle and heat-treated one-piece tube are built to hold zero under recoil. Because it is second focal plane, the reticle stays legible for close shots at low power, which one reviewer used for 20 to 30 yard shots on small game before dialing up for longer range work.
