Overview
Prioritizing game traffic at three levels, by device, game packet and server route, is the core trick of this Asus ROG router. A multi-gig gaming port, a quad core processor and eight antennas back it up, and AiMesh adds compatible Asus nodes later.
Game acceleration and detailed bandwidth monitoring help keep ping steady while others stream. The large, spider like design with eight antennas needs a wide, open spot.
Who it's for
Competitive gamers and power users who like tuning their network. Casual users may find the size and settings beyond what they need.
Pros and cons
- Game traffic prioritization
- Multi-gig gaming port
- Fast quad core CPU
- Lifetime AiProtection security
- Very large footprint
- Eight antennas to position
- Only one multi-gig port
Performance notes
Lower lag comes from prioritizing game packets over downloads and steering traffic through optimized routes. Tri band radios spread devices to limit congestion. The quad core processor handles security scanning and monitoring without slowing routing.
