Overview
Setting up this ASUS router through its app brings a home onto dual-band modern WiFi with traffic shared across devices by OFDMA. Free AiProtection security guards the network, and AiMesh lets it join other ASUS routers for whole-home coverage.
Lifetime security with no subscription and mesh support make it a sensible long-term router. Wired speed stops at gigabit, which limits very fast internet plans.
Who it's for
Families streaming and gaming on many devices get efficient modern WiFi and built-in security. Fiber users on multi-gig plans should look for a multi-gig router.
Pros and cons
- Lifetime security included
- Mesh expansion support
- Four gigabit LAN ports
- No multi-gig port
- Coverage varies with walls
Performance notes
OFDMA splits each channel among several devices, which cuts waiting when many phones and TVs are active. Narrower channel width limits peak speed, favoring stable coverage. Beamforming aims signal toward devices for steadier links.
