Overview
Amerex makes these multipurpose extinguishers for Class A, B and C fires, charged with ABC dry chemical under stored pressure. Each one discharges through a hose and nozzle after the pull pin is removed, and printed graphics on the label walk through the steps. Wall brackets let them hang where people can find them fast.
Amerex pairs a steel cylinder with a metal valve, and the rating covers all three common fire classes, so one type handles most hazards in a shop or garage. Two units let you cover two exits or floors. Full-size units take wall space and a firm grip to carry.
Who it's for
Shop owners and homeowners covering a garage plus a kitchen or second floor get two matched units in one order. Facility managers stocking hallways can mount both on the included brackets. People wanting something light enough to store in a car should look at a much smaller size.
Pros and cons
- Covers Class A, B and C fires
- High UL fire rating
- Wall brackets included
- Hose aims the discharge
- Heavy to lift and aim for some users
- Pressure gauge not listed
- Bulky for kitchen cabinets or cars
Performance notes
Stored pressure inside the cylinder drives the dry chemical out through the hose once the pull pin is removed and the valve is opened. The hose lets the user aim at the fire while holding the cylinder steady. Discharge time and range are set by the charge and nozzle and are not stated.
