Overview
Kingsford's BB12010 is listed under smokers, but at 4 by 1.75 by 11.75 inches and about 1 pound, its size fits a small charcoal smoker box rather than a full smoker unit.
A full charcoal smoker would not weigh close to 1 pound or measure under a foot in its longest dimension, so the listed size points to a smoker box, a small perforated container that holds wood chips or charcoal on top of an existing grill's grate. The charcoal fuel type listed lines up with that reading.
- Dimensions 4 x 1.75 x 11.75 in
- Weight about 1.01 lb
- Charcoal fuel type
- Brand: Kingsford
Who it's for
For grill owners who want to add smoke flavor to food cooked on a standard grill. Not for anyone shopping for a full sized standalone smoker.
Pros and cons
- Compact size fits on top of an existing grill
- Charcoal fuel type suits traditional smoke flavor
- Not a full standalone smoker despite the category label
- Capacity in terms of charcoal amount not listed
Performance notes
A smoker box works by holding charcoal or wood chips in a vented metal container placed directly over the heat source, letting smoke rise through the grate while the box contains stray coals. Its 11.75 inch length is enough to sit across most grill grates without shifting.
