Overview
The Brita SAFF-100/FF-100 is a faucet-mounted activated carbon filter rated for 100 gallons, made of plastic and sold as a single unit weighing about 1 pound.
Faucet mount filters like this one attach directly to the tap rather than requiring under-sink plumbing or pitcher refills, trading some flow rate for install simplicity. The 100 gallon rating is on the lower end for the systems in this batch, which points to more frequent cartridge swaps than an under-sink unit. Its 3.8 rating is the lowest among the products reviewed alongside it.
- Activated carbon filtration
- 100 gallon rated capacity
- Faucet mount install
- 1.02 lb weight
Who it's for
Suits a renter or anyone wanting filtered water straight from the kitchen faucet without permanent plumbing changes. Less suited to a household that filters a lot of water and wants to minimize cartridge changes.
Pros and cons
- Attaches directly to the faucet, no plumbing
- Simple single unit purchase
- 100 gallon capacity is short compared to under-sink systems
- 3.8 rating trails other options in the category
Performance notes
Activated carbon filtration addresses chlorine taste and odor. At a 100 gallon rated capacity, this filter has less working life between changes than under-sink systems rated in the thousands of gallons, a direct tradeoff for the no-plumbing faucet mount design.
