Kasa EC70 Pan Tilt Indoor Security Camera

Overview

A Wi-Fi connected camera from Kasa with 1080p resolution and color night vision, wired for power rather than battery operated, listed here under baby monitors.

Color night vision is a step up from the black-and-white infrared most baby cameras use, letting you see a room in something closer to true color even in low light. Being Wi-Fi based means it streams to an app rather than a dedicated handheld unit, which trades a proprietary receiver for reliance on home network strength. The corded power setup rules out placement anywhere without a nearby outlet.

Who it's for

Parents who already use Wi-Fi cameras or want app-based viewing from a phone rather than a separate monitor unit. Less suited to anyone wanting a dedicated handheld receiver with no dependence on home Wi-Fi.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Color night vision depends on some ambient light to render color rather than pure infrared, so a fully dark room may still fall back to lower-color output. Streaming quality at 1080p will vary with home network strength since the camera runs over Wi-Fi rather than a dedicated signal.
