Overview
Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites is a dry adult dog food sized for small breeds, built around a lamb and brown rice recipe with a small kibble piece meant for smaller mouths. The 12 pound bag is labeled non-GMO and free of corn, wheat and soy.
Nutro positions the omega-3 and omega-6 ratio in this formula for skin and coat support, and lists chicken as a special ingredient alongside the lamb and brown rice base, so dogs with a chicken sensitivity should read the full ingredient panel before switching. The listing also carries a Veterinary Diet field, which appears to be a leftover template tag rather than a description of this as a prescription food, since nothing else in the listing suggests it requires a vet's authorization.
- 12 lb bag, small bites kibble
- Lamb and brown rice recipe
- Adult life stage, small breed sizing
- Omega-3 and omega-6 for skin and coat
Who it's for
Aimed at owners of small breed adult dogs who want a non-GMO formula without corn, wheat or soy. Not built for puppies or large breed dogs given the small bite size and adult life stage labeling.
Pros and cons
- Small kibble size built for small breed mouths
- No corn, wheat or soy
- Non-GMO ingredient claim
- Contains chicken despite lamb being the named protein
- Listing includes a Veterinary Diet tag with no explanation in the data
Performance notes
The small bite kibble size is shaped for smaller jaws, and the omega-3 and omega-6 ratio is the mechanism Nutro cites for skin and coat support rather than a single added oil.
