Overview
A first court session for a young child is what the shortest racquet in the HEAD Speed Junior series is made for. Its aluminum frame is light, the head is larger for a forgiving sweet spot, and the youth-designed grip is sized for small hands.
The lightweight frame and large head help new players focus on technique rather than power, and it arrives strung. The listing disagrees with itself on the age range, and the dimensions field holds a width that cannot be right.
Who it's for
Young children learning the basics in lessons, a junior program or casual hitting with family. Older kids and adults should move to a longer model, since this is the shortest size in the series.
Pros and cons
- Light aluminum frame
- Strung and ready to use
- Larger head for easier contact
- One year warranty
- Age range differs in the listing
- Dimensions field looks wrong
- Shortest size, outgrown quickly
- Head size not listed
Performance notes
A short, light frame is easier for a small child to swing under control, and a larger head widens the area that returns the ball cleanly. Because the racquet is strung, it is ready to hit out of the packaging, although string tension is not described.
