Overview
Instead of a plumbed, permanent install, the SPT portable dishwasher is a freestanding unit that quick connects to the kitchen faucet. Pull out dish racks load into a stainless steel interior tub, and touch controls run its wash programs with a time delay option.
Skipping plumbing work is the reason to buy, since the faucet hookup lets it run in a rental or a kitchen with no dishwasher bay. The stainless steel tub and low noise rating suit an open kitchen. Moving it between uses is a chore given its listed weight.
Who it's for
Renters and owners of kitchens with no dishwasher bay get large capacity that hooks to the sink faucet for each load. Small apartments with no floor space beside the sink, or anyone set on a permanent built-in, should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Connects to the faucet, no plumbing work
- Stainless steel interior tub
- ENERGY STAR rated
- Low listed noise rating
- Heavy to move between loads
- Needs floor space next to the sink
- Water use per cycle not listed
- Ties up the faucet during a cycle
Performance notes
Cleaning depends on the selected program, the water temperature coming from the faucet and how the racks are loaded, since the spray must reach each piece. Running through a faucet connection means the sink is occupied for the length of a cycle. The time delay lets loads run at quieter hours.
