A solid mid-priced hunting scope that holds zero well, but confirm the illuminated versus non-illuminated reticle before buying since the listing has caused mix-ups.

Overview
A second focal plane 3-12x44mm riflescope in a 30mm tube from SIG SAUER's WHISKEY4 line, with a BDC-1 reticle, LockDown Zero locking turrets, flip-back lens caps and a removable throw lever included.
SIG sells this scope in more than one reticle configuration, and the review history here shows real confusion about which version is illuminated. Two buyers separately report receiving a non-illuminated reticle despite marketing images or a hellfire reticle name that implied otherwise, so confirm the specific reticle option before ordering if illumination matters.
- Second focal plane BDC-1 reticle
- 0.25 MOA adjustment increments
- 44mm objective lens, 3-12x magnification
- 23oz weight in a 30mm maintube
Who it's for
Fits hunters and shooters who want an argon-purged, waterproof 30mm scope with a locking zero stop at a mid-range price point. Not the choice for anyone who specifically needs the illuminated version, since more than one buyer received a non-illuminated unit unexpectedly.
Pros and cons
- Turret locks at true zero, not a reference mark
- Argon-purged for waterproof, fog-proof performance
- Flip-back lens caps and throw lever included
- Holds zero well according to multiple owners
- Reticle illumination inconsistent with buyer expectations
- One owner rated the glass below a Vortex Crossfire
- Delivery issue reported by one buyer, later resolved
Performance notes
The LockDown Zero System locks the elevation turret at true zero rather than just marking it, which several owners credit for holding zero reliably. Argon gas-purged lenses handle waterproofing and fog resistance, and the removable throw lever speeds magnification changes in the field.
