Overview
A flex notch cut into a performance microfiber upper lets the Riedell Topaz bend at the ankle while still giving balanced support for edges and turns. An Eclipse Capri stainless steel blade mounts below a Helios outsole, with a padded Achilles collar up top.
Balanced ankle support suits adults moving past basic skating into edge work and small jumps. The Dri-Lex lining handles sweat over long practice sessions. Its support level stops short of what doubles and harder jumps demand.
Who it's for
Adult and teen skaters in group lessons or early freestyle work who need more than a rental skate. Advanced skaters should move to a boot with a higher support rating.
Pros and cons
- Balanced support for early jumps
- Flex notch allows knee bend
- Sweat wicking Dri-Lex lining
- Padded Achilles collar
- Too soft for advanced jumps
- Width options not listed
- Boot weight not stated
Performance notes
Support rating describes how much the boot resists ankle bend, and a mid level lets beginners flex into edges without fighting the boot. The flex notch helps the knee and ankle bend together. Blade sharpness and mounting position decide glide and edge grip.
