Overview
A quilted cotton pillowtop mattress pad sized for a queen bed, with an 18 inch deep elastic pocket and a cotton dobby-check top layer over polyester fill, machine washable.
The pad's main job is fit rather than feel: an 18 inch pocket is built to grip thicker modern mattresses rather than the shallower ones older fitted pads were cut for, paired with a cotton face fabric over a polyester fill instead of an all-synthetic pad.
- Queen size, 60 x 80 inches
- 18 inch deep elastic pocket
- Cotton dobby-check quilted top
- Machine washable, tumble dry low
Who it's for
Queen bed owners with a deep mattress who have had a shallower pad slip or pop off the corners, and who want a cotton-surfaced pad rather than an all-polyester one. Not for anyone with a mattress deeper than about 18 inches or one that already fits snugly under a fitted sheet without a pad.
Pros and cons
- 18 inch deep pocket fits thicker modern mattresses
- Cotton top layer over polyester fill
- Not sized for mattresses deeper than about 18 inches
Performance notes
The elastic runs all the way around the 18 inch pocket rather than just at the corners, which is what is meant to keep the pad anchored through a night of tossing and turning instead of riding up. The quilted cotton top layer is stitched to the polyester fill to stop the filling from bunching into lumps after repeated washing, the usual failure point for cheaper mattress pads.
