A native ultra HD laser projector with Android apps and automatic setup for a home theater. Contrast is low on paper and it does not play stereoscopic discs, so dark rooms and flat content suit it.

Overview
Dangbei pairs a native ultra HD DLP chip with an ALPD laser light source, which gives wide color and a long service life. Android with generous storage runs apps on board, and auto focus, keystone and obstacle avoidance set up the picture.
Native ultra HD detail with laser light and built in apps make it a self contained home theater. Native contrast is listed low, so black levels depend on a dark room, and some of its throw and size specs look inconsistent.
Who it's for
Dedicated movie rooms that go dark at night will show off its resolution and color. Viewers counting on stereoscopic discs or bright daytime viewing should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Native ultra HD resolution
- Laser light, long life
- Apps run on board
- Auto focus and wide keystone range
- Low listed contrast
- No Blu-ray 3D
- Throw specs confusing
- Light life listed two ways
Performance notes
ALPD laser light widens the color gamut and avoids lamp dimming, while the native ultra HD chip resolves fine detail. Low native contrast means dark scenes rely on ambient darkness. Auto keystone squares off angled placement by giving up some panel area.
