Overview
Shooting school plays, sports and family trips from a distance is where this Panasonic camcorder shines, with long optical zoom in a compact body. Hybrid stabilization and Level Shot hold footage steady and straight.
Long zoom and steady handheld footage are the strengths, along with a larger sensor that helps in dim rooms. It is a Full HD camera, so anyone wanting Ultra HD needs a different model.
Who it's for
Recitals, games, travel and family gatherings suit a zoom camcorder that handles low light. Creators who need Ultra HD or interchangeable lenses should look at mirrorless cameras.
Pros and cons
- Long optical zoom
- Level Shot tilt correction
- HDR Movie for high contrast
- Smartphone twin camera mode
- Full HD only, no 4K
- Small sensor next to cameras
- Digital zoom loses detail
Performance notes
The back-side illuminated sensor has larger pixels than smaller camcorder sensors, which reduces noise in dim light. Hybrid optical stabilization and a four-group lens drive keep long zoom shots steady and sharp.
