Overview
Not a travel router, this Cudy unit is a full home router with current WiFi, four gigabit ports and a VPN server and client for remote work. Cudy Mesh adds more units over wireless or wired backhaul if coverage falls short.
Built-in VPN server and client support plus encrypted DNS give privacy-minded users a lot of control. The listed coverage suits an apartment or small home, with mesh units for anything bigger.
Who it's for
Remote workers needing a VPN server and families wanting parental profiles will use its features. Large homes should plan on adding mesh units.
Pros and cons
- Full VPN server and client
- IPTV and VLAN support
- Parental profiles and scheduling
- Ethernet cable included
- Modest coverage area
- Gigabit ports only
Performance notes
Capacity comes from OFDMA and MU-MIMO, which serve several devices at once, while wide channels raise speed for close WiFi devices. The dual-core processor handles VPN encryption at moderate speeds. Wired or wireless backhaul links mesh units, with wired giving the most consistent results.
