Overview
Cudy built this pocket router to log into hotel and cafe Wi-Fi once, including captive portals, and share a private, VPN-protected network with all your devices. It runs from any USB-C charger, laptop port or power bank.
Wide VPN choice and OpenWRT give tech-savvy travelers real control over public networks. Its wired ports and Wi-Fi standard are slower than newer models.
Who it's for
Digital nomads and business travelers on hotel networks will use the VPN and captive portal mode. People needing gigabit wired speed should look at a faster model.
Pros and cons
- Many VPN protocols
- WISP mode for captive portals
- USB file sharing
- Slow 10/100 wired ports
- Older Wi-Fi standard
- No power adapter in box
- Range not specified
Performance notes
Throughput is limited by the hotel connection and the slower wired ports, so it suits browsing, calls and streaming more than large file moves. VPN encryption adds some overhead on a small processor. WISP mode handles captive portal logins so every device shares one session.
