Overview
Tuning AM, FM, VHF, shortwave and weather bands from a coat pocket is what this radio does. A wire antenna extends reception, and an LCD shows the station while a flashlight and earphone jack round out the kit.
The reason to look at it is wide band coverage with a rechargeable cell in a body that fits in an emergency bag. The limit is that the app control in the title has no supporting details, and alert features for weather are not listed.
Who it's for
Hikers, travelers and emergency kit owners who want news and weather bands in a small case will find it fits. Those who depend on automatic alerts or room-filling sound need a different radio.
Pros and cons
- Covers shortwave and weather bands
- Rechargeable battery included
- Earphones and storage bag included
- Weather alert function not listed
- Small LCD readout
Performance notes
Shortwave reception depends heavily on the antenna and on interference from nearby electronics, so the included wire antenna matters. A lithium ion cell is recharged over the charging port, not by replacing cells. The earphone jack lets you listen privately when a small speaker is not enough.
