Overview
Connecting a gaming PC and a NAS at multi-gig speed while covering the house over WiFi, this ASUS router pairs two fast ports with a strong quad-core processor. AiProtection Pro guards every device, and AiMesh lets you add units later.
Multi-gig ports, a strong processor and free lifetime security make it a capable hub for a busy household. It is dual-band only, which leaves newer six gigahertz devices on older bands.
Who it's for
Households with many devices and a fast plan will use the ports and processor.
Pros and cons
- Two multi-gig ports
- Fast quad-core processor
- Lifetime security included
- One-click travel VPN
- Coverage area not stated
Performance notes
Throughput comes from four-stream radios and wide channels, which give compatible devices high speeds at close range. The fast processor handles security scanning and QoS without slowing traffic. Real speeds drop with distance, walls and network load, as ASUS notes.
