Overview
The Engel LBC13S-PRO is a 13 quart live bait container built from polypropylene, finished in silver, and paired with Engel's rechargeable live bait aerator. It is sized for anglers who need to keep bait alive boat-side rather than a standard dry tackle box.
The listing calls out Engel's rechargeable aerator specifically, which is the feature that separates a live bait cooler from a plain cooler: it circulates water to keep oxygen levels up for shrimp, minnows or other live bait over a fishing day. Polypropylene construction is a lighter, more chemical-resistant plastic than the rotomolded foam coolers Engel is also known for, which suits a bait bucket meant to be rinsed out often.
- 13 quart capacity
- Rechargeable live bait aerator included
- Polypropylene construction
- Silver finish
Who it's for
This is built for anglers who fish live bait and need to keep it alive on the boat or on shore, particularly those who already use Engel gear. Anglers who only fish artificial lures have no use for a bait aerator system.
Pros and cons
- Built-in rechargeable aerator, no boat power needed
- 13 quart capacity for a day of live bait
- Polypropylene resists corrosion from bait water
- Aerator runtime per charge not listed
- 13 quarts may be tight for large bait loads
Performance notes
The rechargeable aerator is the functional core of this unit, cycling water to maintain dissolved oxygen for live bait rather than relying on ice or a plug-in pump tied to a boat battery. Runtime between charges is not stated in the listing, which matters for anglers planning long days away from an outlet.
