Overview
This is a two-pack of genuine replacement filters for the PuroAir 400 air purifier, not a purifier itself. Each cartridge combines a pre-filter layer, a HEPA layer and an activated carbon layer that PuroAir calls CarbonTech. The manufacturer specifies replacement every 3 to 4 months.
Filter buying comes down to two questions: does it fit, and what does a year of ownership cost. On the first, this is the manufacturer's own part with an official seal, so fitment is not the gamble it can be with third-party cartridges. On the second, at roughly three changes a year per unit, the running cost is the real story and it is the single thing owners comment on most.
- Two-pack of PuroAir 400 replacement filters
- Three-layer pre-filter, HEPA and CarbonTech carbon
- Replacement interval 3-4 months per PuroAir
- Covered by PuroAir's 2-year warranty
Who it's for
For PuroAir 400 owners who would rather pay for the manufacturer part than risk an aftermarket cartridge sealing poorly. Households with pets, smoke exposure or heavy dust will hit the 3 to 4 month interval reliably. Anyone running several purifiers and watching annual cost should price third-party options first.
What buyers say
From Amazon customer reviews.
Buyers are consistent on two points that pull in opposite directions: the filters do visibly capture dust and the purifier runs quietly with no smell from new media, but almost every positive review adds a note about price. One buyer called them grossly overpriced while still rating the filtration highly, and another said they are not inexpensive but last a reasonable stretch. Installation draws no complaints at all, with several owners describing it as opening the back panel and dropping the cartridge in.
Strengths and trade-offs
Drawn from this product's published specifications.
- Genuine PuroAir part, so fitment is not a gamble
- Carbon layer targets odors, not just particulate
- Two cartridges cover roughly six to eight months
- Slides in without tools
- Costly per cartridge compared to generic filters
- Fixed 3-4 month interval adds up annually
- Fits the PuroAir 400 only
Performance notes
A combined cartridge works in stages: the outer pre-filter catches hair and lint so the HEPA media is not blinded early, the HEPA layer captures fine particulate, and the carbon layer adsorbs gas-phase odor molecules that HEPA media cannot hold. Carbon saturates on a schedule of its own, so a filter that still looks clean can stop controlling odor. That is why the 3 to 4 month interval matters more than visual inspection.

Questions about the PuroAir PA400
Common buyer questions answered straight from the product spec data - no fluff, no "it depends".
How often should the PuroAir 400 filter be changed?
PuroAir specifies every 3 to 4 months. A two-pack therefore covers roughly six to eight months of continuous use in one purifier.
Will this fit any PuroAir model?
It is made for the PuroAir 400. Check the model number on your unit before ordering, since other PuroAir purifiers take different cartridges.
Is the carbon layer washable?
No. Activated carbon adsorbs odor compounds until it saturates and cannot be rinsed back to usable condition, which is why the whole cartridge is replaced.
