Worth the step up mainly for the self-adjusting light and doubled storage, not for anything about the base reading experience.

Overview
Amazon's top-tier Paperwhite, with a 7-inch glare-free display, an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging support, and 32GB of storage, double the standard model's 16GB. It fits readers who want the largest Paperwhite storage and a light that adjusts on its own.
The auto-adjusting front light and wireless charging are the two things this Signature Edition adds over the base Paperwhite; the display and page-turn speed are otherwise the same across both. 32GB mainly matters for large audiobook or comic libraries, since a typical text library fits comfortably in far less.
- 7-inch glare-free display, 25% faster page turns
- Auto-adjusting front light
- 32GB storage, wireless charging capable
- Up to 12 weeks battery life
Who it's for
Readers who want to skip manually adjusting brightness through the day, or who plan to store large audiobook or graphic novel collections. Anyone reading mostly text with a modest library will not notice much difference from the cheaper 16GB Paperwhite.
Pros and cons
- Auto-adjusting front light removes manual brightness changes
- 32GB fits large audiobook or comic libraries
- Up to 12 weeks per charge
- Wireless charging dock is sold separately, not included
- No gain over the base Paperwhite for readers who stick to text
Performance notes
The 7-inch display uses the current-generation Paperwhite panel with a higher contrast ratio and 25 percent faster page turns than the prior generation. A single charge is rated up to 12 weeks of typical reading. The device is waterproof, so it can go by a pool or in the bath without a case. Wireless charging needs a compatible dock sold separately.
