Overview
Not a license-free walkie, this QUANSHENG is a dual-band amateur handheld that also scans air band, weather and wide receive ranges. Its battery charges straight from USB-C.
Wide receive, weather alerts and frequency copy make it a flexible survival-kit radio. The battery is small, and the radio has no water resistance.
Who it's for
Preppers and new hams who want weather alerts, aviation listening and USB charging suit this radio. Users in wet conditions should add a pouch or choose a sealed model.
Pros and cons
- Air band listening
- USB-C charging on the battery
- Copies frequencies without a PC
- LED flashlight and alarm
- Not water resistant
- Transmit limited to amateur bands
Performance notes
Talk range is governed by antenna, terrain and band choice more than the output figure. The frequency match function reads a nearby radio's channel and tones, which speeds team pairing.
