Overview
A glass handle on the side of the round carafe gives a grip for pouring, while the body below collects coffee brewed by pouring hot water over grounds. Chemex lists it in the Twisted Glass Handle series in a Tropical color.
Color sets this version apart, with a Tropical finish on a classic round carafe. Listing data stops at the handle and heat resistance, so exact height, weight and cleaning instructions have to come from Chemex directly.
Who it's for
Weekend brewers who enjoy measuring grounds and pouring slowly will get a colorful glass carafe for the counter. Shoppers after a programmable machine, a thermal carafe or detailed specs should keep looking.
Pros and cons
- Handle for pouring and carrying
- Heat resistant glass listed
- Tropical color stands out on a counter
- Classic round shape
- Filters, dimensions and weight not listed
- Glass breaks if dropped
- Manual pouring needs a separate kettle
Performance notes
Flavor comes from the grind, the water temperature and the speed of the pour, which the brewer controls by hand. The carafe only collects and serves, so results track technique more than the vessel, and coffee is meant to be poured soon after brewing.
