Cotopaxi Allpa 28L Travel Pack

Overview

The Cotopaxi Allpa 28L Travel Pack opens like a suitcase via a full-wrap zipper, with a padded 15-inch laptop sleeve, three grab handles, and a strap on the back that slides over a rolling bag's handle.

Despite where this listing is filed, it reads as a travel pack rather than a hiking daypack: the suitcase-style opening, roller-bag pass-through strap, and tuckable waist belt point to airport and city use rather than trail carry. Cotopaxi's own description notes this is a redesigned version with air mesh shoulder straps and a recycled-material build, an update on their original Allpa line. The internal layout, one large, one medium, one small pocket, plus a front organizer with a key clip, is built for grab-and-go access rather than deep trail packing.

• 28 liter capacity
• 3 grab handles: side, top, bottom
• Water bottle pocket up to 1 liter
• 4 exterior webbing loops

Who it's for

Suits travelers who want backpack-style carry with suitcase-style access, especially anyone stacking it on a rolling bag through an airport. Not the right pick for someone wanting a true hiking daypack with a hydration sleeve or trail-specific harness.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The full-wrap zipper opens the whole main body flat like a suitcase, which makes packing and finding items faster than a top-loading pack. Three grab handles, on the side, top, and bottom, let it be picked up whichever way it is sitting, and the tuckable waist belt can be stowed away when not needed for comfort on longer carries. The mesh water bottle pocket stretches to hold up to a 1-liter bottle, and four exterior webbing loops give a place to lash extra gear if the main compartments fill up.
