Overview
Not a household combination unit, this First Alert alarm is a smoke only detector approved for use in RVs. A hinged cover gives access to the battery, and a locking pin stops it being removed by accident or on purpose.
RV owners get an approved alarm that stays powered thanks to the tamper resistant pin. It does not detect carbon monoxide, and the battery type and warranty are not stated.
Who it's for
Camper, trailer and motorhome owners will find it approved for that use. Vehicles with propane appliances also need a CO alarm.
Pros and cons
- Approved for recreational vehicles
- Locking pin holds battery in
- Hinged cover for easy swaps
- Light and small
- Smoke only, no CO
- Battery type not stated
Performance notes
Detection uses the maker's sensing logic to cut nuisance alarms from cooking, which matters in a small RV kitchen. The locking pin prevents the battery from being pulled, so the alarm stays live. Placement near sleeping areas sets how early it warns.
