Overview
VTech built the KidiGo DX pair around a secure digital connection that links only the two radios in the box. A backlit screen, a flashlight and four games make it more than a plain radio.
Kids on a secret mission can send preset text messages and customize the sound effect, then play solo or with a friend. The radios will not talk to other brands, and the batteries in the box are intended for demo use.
Who it's for
Four-year-olds and up playing in a yard or around the home will like the games and the dark-friendly flashlight. Hikers or groups needing more than two radios should look at an FRS set.
Pros and cons
- Secure digital connection
- Four built-in games
- Six language options
- Links only to its own pair
- Not water resistant
- Batteries are demo only
Performance notes
The two radios pair on a proprietary wireless link and reach the listed distance at most, with walls and obstacles shortening it. Power comes from six batteries, so fresh ones matter for regular use.
