Overview
Not a Wi-Fi router, this ASUS ExpertWiFi unit is a wired gateway that balances several internet lines and falls back to a phone hotspot over USB. VLANs, VPN and AiProtection Pro intrusion prevention protect a small business network.
Multi line failover and built-in threat blocking keep a shop or office online and safer. Wireless coverage needs separate ExpertWiFi access points.
Who it's for
Small offices, retail shops and clinics with two internet providers get load balancing and security. Households wanting simple Wi-Fi should buy a wireless router.
Pros and cons
- Multiple WAN with load balancing
- USB hotspot backup
- Free IPS subscription
- Easy app setup
- No Wi-Fi for client devices
- Few Ethernet ports
- Business features add setup steps
Performance notes
Load balancing splits traffic across internet lines and fails over when one drops, keeping the business online. Deep packet inspection examines traffic for threats, which uses some router processing under heavy load.
