Overview
A cordless bamboo Roman shade in Highfield Teak, sized 34.5 inch wide by 64 inch high with a matching valance that hides the mounting hardware. Unishades gives separate size tolerances for inside and outside mounting, so the window opening has to match one of the two fairly closely.
The maker is upfront that bamboo does not reflect light the way fabric does: in low light the strip color reads noticeably darker than it does in bright light, and even with the shade fully closed there are small gaps above the curtain where light gets through. Neither issue exposes the room, but it means this is a light-filtering shade, not a blackout one. Installation uses a cordless push-pull system rather than a cord or chain, which is the main safety selling point.
- Cordless manual lift, no cord or chain
- 34.5 in W x 64 in H bamboo shade with valance
- Separate inside-mount and outside-mount size tolerances
- Natural bamboo material, color varies with light level
Who it's for
Fits someone who wants the look and texture of natural bamboo strips on a window and is fine with some light passing through rather than a dark room. Households with young kids or pets benefit from the cordless mechanism. It suits a buyer who can measure precisely, since the two mount options only cover narrow width and height bands.
Pros and cons
- Cordless push-pull operation with no dangling cord
- Valance included to cover mounting hardware
- Stops and holds at any height, not just preset positions
- Natural bamboo texture and color, not a synthetic imitation
- Not a blackout shade; light gaps remain above the shade when closed
- Two mount options each fit only a narrow width and height range
- Bamboo reads darker in low light than in bright light per the maker's own note
- No customer review data yet to confirm real-world durability
Performance notes
The cordless push-pull system lets the shade hold at any height without a cord, chain, or cellular lock, which also removes the strangulation risk those create. Because it is a manual friction stop rather than a locking mechanism, how firmly it holds depends on how it is used. Light control comes only from the bamboo weave itself, so expect filtered daylight rather than a dark room, with a few light gaps above the shade even fully lowered.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Unishades bamboo Roman shade come in other sizes?
This listing is fixed at 34.5 inch wide by 64 inch high. The brand states an inside mount fits windows up to 34 7/8 inch wide and 64 inch tall, while an outside mount fits 36.5 to 38.5 inch wide windows up to 62 inch tall.
Will this block light completely?
No. It is a natural bamboo weave, so some light passes through the material, and the maker notes there are small light gaps above the shade even fully closed, though these do not expose the room.
Is there a cord to worry about with kids or pets?
No. It uses a cordless push-pull system to raise, lower, and hold the shade at any position, which avoids the loose-cord hazard of older Roman shade designs.
