Overview
Wiring a busy home office or game room is where this ASUS router shines, with two ten gigabit ports and eight more Ethernet jacks. WiFi seven, subscription-free security and AiMesh support round it out.
An unusual number of fast wired ports, including SFP+, lets one box serve a whole desk of PCs, consoles and a NAS. It is dual-band, so devices that need the newest wireless band will not find it.
Who it's for
Power users with a NAS, gaming PCs and a fiber line get rare wired flexibility. Apartment dwellers who mainly use WiFi and few cables would not use most of the ports.
Pros and cons
- Two ten gigabit ports
- Many multi-gig LAN ports
- Free security and parental controls
- Mobile tethering for backup internet
- Tall upright body
- No six gigahertz band
Performance notes
Wired throughput is the strength, since several multi-gig ports can run at once without a separate switch. Wireless speed depends on client support for WiFi seven features like multi-link operation.
