Overview
A park picnic table for POTA or a home desk both suit this Xiegu radio, a portable HF and six-meter transceiver with RF direct sampling, a color spectrum display, a built-in antenna tuner and a replaceable battery.
A full-featured HF rig with tuner and battery in one compact box is the reason field operators want it. Output power is missing, so plan antennas and contacts without that figure.
Who it's for
Made for amateur operators who want SSB, CW and digital modes in the field. Beginners without an HF license or antenna should not start here.
Pros and cons
- Built-in automatic antenna tuner
- Replaceable internal battery
- Waterfall spectrum display
- Wide mode support
- Transmit power not listed
- Battery life only a few hours
- No antenna named in the box
Performance notes
Direct sampling digitizes the RF signal early, which supports the clean spectrum and waterfall views. The internal tuner matches imperfect field antennas, and battery time depends on transmit duty.
