Overview
Wilson's GST SpeedSkin football is an official size ball with a SpeedSkin cover, sewn composite stripes in place of painted ones, and raised pebbled laces for grip. It carries Wilson's script logo and needs no break-in before play.
The composite sewn stripes are Wilson's alternative to paint, which the brand says adds grip specifically at the point where fingers release the ball on a throw. Being marketed as ready to play with no break-in period separates it from leather balls that soften with use over time.
- Official size football in brown
- SpeedSkin cover, ready to play with no break-in
- Composite sewn stripes for added grip
- Raised pebbled laces and Wilson script logo
Who it's for
Aimed at players wanting an official-size football with game-day grip features right out of the box, without waiting for a leather cover to break in.
Pros and cons
- Official size football with no break-in required
- Composite sewn stripes add grip at the release point
- Raised pebbled laces for finger control
- No indication of a junior or youth size in this listing
Performance notes
The SpeedSkin cover material is designed to feel consistent from the first throw, since it skips the break-in period that some leather covers need. Composite stripes sewn onto the surface, rather than painted on, are meant to add grip specifically where fingers naturally sit for release.
