Overview
FishBites 0201 is a small, white gel based synthetic bait strip built for saltwater species and rigged on a J hook. It ships 2 to a pack and is marketed as biodegradable, an alternative to fresh cut bait.
Unlike a hard lure, this is a soft scented strip meant to be threaded onto a hook in place of real bait, so it needs no cooler or ice and will not spoil on a hot dock. The gel material is designed to release scent and flavor over time in the water, and being biodegradable means it breaks down rather than sitting as litter if lost. At a small size, it suits smaller saltwater species and finesse rigs more than big game.
- 2 pieces per pack
- Gel bait material
- Rigs on a J hook
- Biodegradable formula
Who it's for
Saltwater anglers who want a mess free, no refrigeration bait alternative for smaller species. Not intended for anglers targeting large gamefish that need bulkier bait profiles.
Pros and cons
- No refrigeration or ice needed
- Biodegradable if lost in water
- Outlasts real cut bait on hook
- Small size limits it to smaller species
- Only 2 pieces per pack
Performance notes
The gel strip is built to slowly release scent in the water, working as an attractant rather than relying on movement or flash the way a hard lure does. Because it is synthetic, it holds up on the hook far longer than real cut bait without going soft or falling apart from repeated casts. Being biodegradable, it breaks down naturally if a fish bites it off, much as fresh bait does, but a plastic lure will not.
