Overview
A 24-piece wood carving kit pairing whittling and detail knives with basswood practice blocks, four templates, a leather strop and polishing compound for sharpening upkeep, plus safety gloves for beginners.
Unlike a bare knife set, this kit includes its own sharpening maintenance in the strop and compound, so the blades can be kept keen without a separate purchase. Safety gloves are included as well, which matters given how often beginner carving mishaps come from practice cuts rather than the finished piece.
- 24-piece set with whittling and detail knives
- Leather strop and polishing compound included
- 6 basswood blocks and 4 templates
- Safety gloves for beginner use
Who it's for
Suited to first-time carvers who want tools, practice wood and basic sharpening upkeep together, plus the added safety of gloves during early attempts. Carvers who already own strops and compound will find that part of the kit redundant.
Pros and cons
- Includes leather strop and polishing compound for upkeep
- Safety gloves included for beginner practice cuts
- Pre-sharpened Mo.V alloy stainless blades
- Leather storage bag with lock clasp keeps tools organized
- Only four template designs for guided projects
- Basswood blocks are a limited supply once past the first few carvings
Performance notes
The Mo.V alloy stainless blades arrive pre-sharpened, and the included leather strop with polishing compound lets that edge be maintained rather than sent out or replaced once it dulls. Basswood blocks give a soft, forgiving wood to learn control on before moving to harder species.
