A genuinely capable compact dishwasher that punches above its size for most owners, though one shipment arrived defective and another buyer hit a costly replacement runaround.

Overview
The Honeywell HDS18W is an 18 inch built-in dishwasher in white, holding 8 place settings across 6 wash programs with a stainless steel tub, built for kitchens too narrow for a standard 24 inch unit.
The description text mentions 14 place settings while the title and bullet points say 8, and the compact 18 inch cutout points to 8 being the accurate figure. Size against the 22.6 by 18 by 32.4 inch dimensions rather than the description's larger number.
- 8 place settings
- 6 wash programs
- Stainless steel tub
- Up to 24 hour delay start
Who it's for
Suits an older home, small kitchen, or vacation cabin with an existing 18 inch opening that never had a dishwasher or is replacing a failed compact unit. Not the choice for a larger household that needs a bigger single load.
Pros and cons
- Fits standard 18 inch cabinet openings without modification
- Dries dishes well according to multiple owners
- Quiet running for a compact unit
- Straightforward installation reported
- Description overstates capacity as 14 place settings versus the actual 8
- One report of a persistent E4 error requiring a full replacement
- Sold under license by BHRS Group rather than Honeywell directly, per one reviewer's account
Performance notes
Owners consistently report dishes coming out clean and notably dry for the unit's size, with quiet running that several call surprising given the compact footprint. Installation into an existing 18 inch opening is generally described as straightforward.
