Our verdict

A clean choice for Apple Home users who want a smart deadbolt that looks like an ordinary one. Remote access and keypad entry both need extra purchases.

Overview

Not a bulky keypad box, the Level Lock Pro hides its smart lock hardware inside the door so only a standard deadbolt shows. You unlock it with an iPhone or Apple Watch, a key fob, a touch, your voice or a regular key, and it reports when the door is left open.

Hiding all hardware inside the door preserves the look of the entry while adding Home Key, NFC and door status sensing.

Who it's for

Apple Home households with a Thread border router or Matter hub get Home Key unlocking and remote control without visible hardware. Renters wanting code entry out of the box should note the keypad is sold separately.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Hidden hardware preserves a traditional look
  • Apple Home Key on iPhone and Watch
  • Door open detection without stick-on magnets
  • Bump-resistant cylinder and end-to-end encryption
Cons
  • Battery life not listed
  • Remote access needs a hub or bridge
  • Keypad sold separately
  • Long strike plate sold separately

Performance notes

Local commands travel over Bluetooth, so response at the door depends on phone proximity, while remote and voice control route through Matter and a Thread border router. Door status sensing uses integrated sensors in the lock. Security rests on the certified cylinder and end-to-end encryption.
