Overview
A 20 inch expandable carry-on with a built-in TSA lock, rated 4.3 from 503 buyers; keep the expansion zipper closed on strict carry-on limits.
The expandable panel is the detail worth noting: the case is nominally 20 inches but the 22x14x9 figure appears to describe it expanded, which can push it past some carriers' carry-on limit once unzipped. The built-in TSA lock is a genuine step up from the plain spinner cases in this size class, since it lets a traveler lock the bag without carrying a separate padlock.
- 20 inch expandable carry-on
- 22x14x9 inches when expanded
- Built-in TSA lock
Who it's for
Suits someone who wants a lockable carry-on with some flex room for extra packing on the way home. Less suited to anyone who plans to travel with the expansion zipper open on a strict carrier, since the expanded size is close to typical limits.
Pros and cons
- Built-in TSA lock included
- Expandable panel adds packing room
- Sized as a 20 inch carry-on
- Expanded size may exceed some airlines' limit
- Lower rating than similar LIGHT FLIGHT cases
Performance notes
The expansion panel adds packing depth by unzipping a gusset around the case, which increases volume at the cost of a slightly bulkier profile and a size closer to the outer edge of carry-on rules. The TSA lock is a standard combination or key lock recognized by US airport security, so it can be opened for inspection without being cut off.
